DAY 1 : NAIROBI – SAMBURU GAME RESERVE

Your 6-day adventure begins with a 7 AM pickup from your Nairobi accommodation or from the airport, setting off on a scenic journey to Samburu Game Reserve. Along the way, you will have a stopover at the Equator line in Nanyuki where you can witness the fascinating phenomenon of water swirling in opposite directions on either side of the equator. Continue your drive to Samburu arriving at your lodge or camp in time for lunch.

Following a brief relaxation, embark on an evening game drive with our experienced safari guide. Explore the reserve’s rugged terrain, Samburu Game Reserve is home to a variety of wildlife species that are not commonly found in other parts of Kenya, these include the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich and gerenuk also known as the “giraffe gazelle.” As the sun sets over the horizon, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest recounting the day’s thrilling encounters amidst the beauty of Samburu.

DAY 2 : FULL DAY IN SAMBURU GAME RESERVE

Wake up to the enchanting sounds of the bush as you prepare for a half-day game drive safari in Samburu Game Reserve after breakfast. Spend the morning exploring the reserve’s diverse landscapes and encountering its resident wildlife with chances to spot the elusive leopard, Somali ostrich and reticulated giraffe. The reserve boasts breathtaking landscapes characterized by rugged mountains, acacia woodlands and meandering rivers such as the Ewaso Nyiro.

At 12PM, Return to your lodge or camp for lunch and some relaxation time amidst the serene surroundings. Later in the afternoon, set out on another thrilling game drive safari, maximizing your chances of spotting wildlife as the day transitions into dusk. You will come across a variety of animals congregating along the riverbanks including elephants, hippos, crocodiles and numerous bird species. As the sun sets over the savannah, return to your accommodation for dinner and relaxation.

DAY 3 : SAMBURU – LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

Rise early for breakfast before departing Samburu and embarking on the journey to Lake Nakuru National Park. Enjoy a scenic drive with stopovers at Thomson Falls and the Great Rift Valley Escarpment past Nyahururu offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Upon arrival in Nakuru, check in for lunch and afternoon relaxation at your lodge before embarking on an evening game drive from 3PM with our experienced guide. The park is home to one of the largest concentrations of black rhinos in East Africa as well as a significant population of white rhinos.

Discover the park’s diverse landscapes from wooded grasslands to the shimmering lake shores, In addition to flamingos, Lake Nakuru is a haven for birdwatchers with over 450 bird species recorded within the park and other wildlife species. As the sun sets over the horizon, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest, recounting the day’s thrilling encounters amidst the beauty of Nakuru.

DAY 4 : LAKE NAKURU – MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE.

After breakfast, continue your safari adventure as you journey from Lake Nakuru to the Masai Mara National Reserve situated in southwestern Kenya renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and abundant wildlife, making it one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations. Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive at 4PM, traverse the vast savannahs and grasslands, keeping a keen eye out for the wildlife that inhabits this iconic reserve. The reserve’s natural beauty provides the perfect backdrop for unforgettable safari adventures and photography.

Masai Mara is renowned for its high concentration of predators including lions, leopards and cheetahs. The open grasslands provide ideal hunting grounds for these apex predators offering you a thrilling experience to come across predator-prey interactions in the wild. As the sun begins to set, return to your accommodation in the evening for dinner and relaxation amidst the sounds of the African bush.

DAY 5 : FULL DAY IN MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE.

Awaken to the enchanting melodies of the wilderness as you prepare for a full day of exploration within the Masai Mara National Reserve. After a hearty breakfast, embark on exhilarating game drives through the reserve’s diverse landscapes, your guide will make the arrangements for your picnic lunch boxes to maximize your time in the wilderness. Masai Mara is home to the Big Five; lions, elephants, buffaloes leopards and rhinos, offering you excellent chances to spot these majestic animals during game drives and guided safari.

Beyond its wildlife, Masai Mara National Reserve boasts stunning landscapes including rolling plains, meandering rivers and picturesque acacia trees dotting the horizon. In the evening, immerse yourself in the rich culture of the indigenous Maasai tribe with an optional visit to a traditional Masai Village, engaging with local communities and gaining insight into their way of life before returning to your accommodation for dinner and relaxation.

You can take to the skies with a hot air balloon ride safari that will see you soar above all of the action. A hot air balloon ride safari experience in the Masai Mara is a truly unforgettable adventure. Your hot air balloon safari typically begins before dawn, as you gather at the launch site within the Masai Mara Reserve. As the sun starts to rise, you’ll watch the balloon being inflated and prepared for flight, creating an exciting atmosphere as anticipation builds.

Another activity is the Maasai Village Tour experience, this optional activity promises to immerse you in the rich heritage and traditions of the Maasai people. You will have the opportunity to engage with the Maasai community, learn about their customs, traditions, and daily life. DAY 6 : MASAI MARA – NAIROBI.

After a leisurely breakfast, depart Masai Mara as you embark on the journey back to Nairobi marking the conclusion of your 6-day safari adventure. Along the way, you can opt for a scenic pass by Lake Naivasha (extra) for an optional boat ride and nature walk safari in a wildlife sanctuary nearby. Observe hippos wallowing in the water and marvel at the array of bird species inhabiting the area.

Afterwards, your driver will drop you off at your hotel or directly to the airport for your onward arrangements leaving you with cherished memories of your unforgettable journey through Samburu, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara.

Payment Conditions

Explorers Wild Adventures accepts no responsibility for the progress of the confirmed services in the case of non-compliance to the following conditions of payment. The company recommends that you secure your booking  with a deposit of at least 30% of quotation to confirm the safari with the full balance of payment being due to Explorers Wild Adventures 25 days prior to departure date. Upon receipt of final payment the company will issue all relevant travel documents with fully confirmed status.

Cancellation Policy

Following your confirmation of the file, cancellation will result in the invoicing of cancellation fees according to the following schedule. Please note that we have no choice but to be very strict in the application of this clause. Several establishment in Africa apply cancellation clauses far stricter than ours, particularly in the event of an entire group cancelling. Where this is the case their clauses will apply rather than ours.

All cancellations must be made in writing to Explorers Wild Adventures. Please ensure you receive written confirmation that your cancellation has been received by us. All cancellations will be charged a cancellation penalty depending on the number of days before tour departure as shown above.

General Conditions

• According to the current use in our destinations, check-in in the hotels takes place from 14h00 and check-out before 11h00 in the morning.
• Quotation established subject to availability of hotels (and flights when applicable) following your confirmation.
• Except if otherwise indicated in our proposal, the validity of all rates exclude Peak Season. During Peak Season (Easter and Christmas/New Year) a supplement of aprox. 25 USD per person per day must be added. Exact supplement available on request.
• Taxes currently 14% but might resuly in price revisions in the case of fluctuations in the applicable rates.
• Our rates do not include personal extras and expenses, gratuities, or insurance for repatriation assistance, luggage or cancellation.
• Our rates do not include entrance visas (Kenya: 50 USD, Tanzania: 50 USD . Consult your nearest Embassy for details).
• International, domestic and regional flights in the programme are not included in the rates, except if otherwise specified in the quote.
• Our rates do not include airport taxes.

Important Information.

a). Specific accommodation described may not always be available. In the event of this happening, Explorers Wild Adventures will always recommend comparable alternative accommodation. It is then the decision of the traveller to accept or decline this alternative accommodation prior to committing to the deposits and pre-payments.

b). Tour costs are based on all known costs at the date of quotation. Any significant changes beyond the control of Explorers Wild Adventures will be passed onto travellers. Once a final quotation has been given by Explorers Wild Adventures and the same has been accepted on behalf of the client and the tour arrangement has been paid for as per our payment terms, then no additional charges and/or surcharges will be levied.

c). Explorers Wild Adventures reserves the right to alter any arrangements due to local conditions. Explorers Wild Adventures also retains the right to refuse any person from participating on or continuing on any tour for any reason or if that person causes or is deemed to cause hazard or inconvenience to other passengers or to Explorers Wild Adventures.

d). The company will not be responsible for any lost or delayed baggage, resulting from travel with an international scheduled airline.

e). Generally travellers in Africa using charter aircraft services to facilitate travel from one destination to another are limited to a baggage allowance of 33lbs/(15kgs) per passenger. This includes camera equipment and carry on baggage. It is important that this baggage is packed in lightweight duffel type bags.

g). Should guests know and inform the company in advance that they will be carrying baggage in excess of the given limit, Explorers Wild Adventures will quote the extra costs involved.

h). Explorers Wild Adventures is not responsible for any changes in airline schedules, airfares, cancellations, loss or damage to baggage and overbooking. All claims for any loss or injury suffered on any airline must be made directly with the airline involved.
