8 Days – 7 Nights : The Rhythm Of Life In Contrasting Kenya
Tour Highlight:
Amboseli National Park is the ancestral home of the proud and gracious Masai people. Although relatively small, the park boasts an enormous diversity of wildlife and contrasting landscapes. Tsavo on the other hand, is one of the largest game parks in the world. Its rolling rocky landscape is carpeted in long grass and dense scrub where game such as black rhino, elephant, leopard, lion and hartebeest roam. Large populations of hippo and Nile crocodile are to be found at Mzimba Springs, one of the park’s natural water sources. In contrast, the coast of Mombasa is a paradise of tropical forests, large varieties of birds, palm trees and beautiful sandy beaches. Relax and be pampered in first-class accommodation while dining on fine cuisine and soaking up the African sun.

You’ll depart from Nairobi after breakfast for approximately 4-5 hours drive to Amboseli ational Park. The main Nairobi-Mombasa road leads southeast, falling around 500m from the 1661m altitude of Nairobi to Emali. From Emali the road runs south before turning in a north-westerly direction and passing to the north of Mount Kilimanjaro before reaching Amboseli. Route details and journey times may vary depending on road conditions.Discover the Amboseli National Park. Arrive at Kibo Safari Camp for check-in then you will enjoy lunch provided at the lodge and later in the afternoon embark on your first game drive to explore the Amboseli Park. Located about 250 km from Nairobi and along the Tanzanian border, the park derives its name from the Masai word “Empusel”, meaning salty, dusty place. Declared a national park in 1974 to protect its unique and fragile ecosystem, the Amboseli National Park offers landscapes of remarkable contrasts: arid zones alongside the lush oases of the swamps. The ecosystem of this low rainfall region depends on water from Mount Kilimanjaro (5895 m). A particular feature of Amboseli is the possibility to take picture postcard photos of elephants against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro. After your afternoon game drive is done, you’ll retire to your accommodation for the evening.
Accommodation : Kibo Safari Camp

DAY 3 : Amboseli National Park
Full day morning and afternoon game drives. Start your day early by getting up before dawn at 06:00hrs to embark on early morning game drive in your tour vehicle to explore the Amboseli park. Covering an area of 392 km2 the park is in addition to elephants, home to numerous animals (giraffe, wildebeest, antelope, buffalo, lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena …) as well as 400 species of birds (pelicans, kingfishers, crakes, hamerkop and 47 types of raptor) who live alongside the Masai villages. At around 9 am, you will return to your accommodation for a late and leisurely breakfast before continuing the game drive at 10.30. Amboseli is most famous for its large elephant populations, with the bulls having some of the biggest tusks in the world. This compact park is abundant with wildlife and allows for excellent game viewing. Its vegetation consists of a combination of sprawling grasslands, swampy springs and dry dusty earth. From Observation Hill you will have a view of the entire park and especially the swamp areas where buffalo, elephants, hippos and a diversity of water birds come to cool off and refresh themselves. Look out for the shy porcupine who only dares to emerge at sunset.

DAY 4 : Tsavo East National Park
Drive from Amboseli to Tsavo East. Travelling first in a south-easterly direction the route passes to the north of Mount Kilimanjaro before branching north to Emali. Route details and journey times may vary depending on road conditions. Arrive at Man Eaters Lodge for check-in then you will enjoy lunch provided at the lodge and later in the afternoon embark on your game. Discover the Tsavo East National Park. Part of Tsavo National Park (the largest park in Kenya [20,812 km2] and one of the largest in Africa), Tsavo East is separated from the western part of the park by the railway linking Nairobi to Mombasa. No fence separates the two parks at present, allowing animals to move freely from one place to another. Equidistant from Nairobi and Mombasa, Tsavo East (11,747 km2) is the largest of the two Tsavo parks. Its dry and flat landscapes, excepting the Yatta Plateau (one of the longest lava flows in the world, after the Ol Donyo Sabuk volcano), showcase a rich wildlife. Grant’s gazelle, zebra, impala, Coke’s hartebeest, giraffe and lion are easily observable. Elephant and buffalo are common and often in large herds of several hundred animals.

After breakfast, Drive from Tsavo East to Mombasa with an enroute game drive. The main Nairobi-Mombasa road runs between Tsavo East and Tsavo West and is joined typically at either Voi or Manyani. From here the road leads southeast through the Taru Desert, an arid, scorched wilderness. Thereafter the scenery becomes progressively more tropical, the heat and humidity increases, and the landscape changes to coconut palms, papaya and other coastal vegetation. Approximate journey time 4 hours. Route details and journey times may vary depending on road conditions. Arrive at Amani Tiwi Beach Resort for check-in then you will enjoy lunch and later in the afternoon at own leisure.
