11 Days – 10 Nights : Feel The Essence Of Nature At Glance
Tour Highlight:
Kenya is full of surprises and many are amazed to know that besides safaris and wildlife, the country also has some of the best beaches in East Africa. The beauty of this land is that, besides the assortment of activities and sights it has on offer, it is also easy to enjoy a safari and beach holiday combination. Kenya’s coastline boasts brilliant blue water, lined with protective coral reefs, creating ideal conditions for swimming, snorkelling, sailing and water sports. The palm-lined beaches are the ideal relaxing environment for the end of your safari holiday. Evenings can be spent reminiscing about your adventures through the Masai Mara or marvelling over the enormous red elephants you saw in Tsavo. Reflect on the splendour of Amboseli and Mount Kilimanjaro and sort through your countless photographs of rare and glorious birds. Finally take a stroll on soft white sand in the balmy night air before drifting off to sleep to dream of paradise.

DAY 2 : Masai Mara National Reserve
Drive from Nairobi to the Masai Mara. Skirting around Mount Suswa the road first heads north to Maai Mahiu, south of Lake Naivasha, before turning west to Narok and continuing west and south to the Masai Mara. A highlight of the journey is the first glimpse of the huge Rift Valley emptiness just past Limuru, at the top of the escarpments of the valley. Mount Longonot, Hell’s Gate National Park and Lake Naivasha may be glimpsed to the north, while the plains seem to sweep on forever to the south. Approximate journey time 4-5 hours, depending on the destination in the Mara. Route details and journey times may vary depending on road conditions. Arrive at Mara Sopa Lodge for check-in and later in the afternoon game drive, immerse yourself in this prime wildlife area and connect with nature on every level. Variety is what distinguishes the exceptional from the mundane and this reserve offers copious amounts of variation. Your afternoon drive will begin late in the day and conclude just before darkness falls. This is the best time of day to view nocturnal hunters who prepare for their nightly expeditions. Watering holes are also usually busy just before sunset as animals such as hippos return to their resting spots while others congregate to drink before retiring for the night.
Accommodation : Mara Sopa
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch (package), Dinner
DAY 3 : Masai Mara National Reserve – Full Day
Full day morning and afternoon game drives. Discover the Masai Mara National Reserve, the most famous and most visited reserve in Kenya. Covering an area of 1510 km2, the Masai Mara reserve is in fact the extension in Kenyan territory of the vast Serengeti Park in Tanzania. Together, they constitute a huge ecosystem in which animals move freely. All large African animals are present. Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, impala, Kirk’s dik-dik, bushbuck, topi, buffalo, ellipsen waterbuck, eland and giraffe, all are there. Famous for its rich wildlife, the Masai Mara is home to not only the “Big 5” (elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard) but also many birds (over 500 species of birds have been recorded). Along the rivers, crocodiles and hippos lie in wait. Composed of vast rolling plains and hills, the Masai Mara is dotted with umbrella thorn acacias and thorny thickets. In the Maa language, Mara means “spotted” and may refer to the colourful landscapes.
Optional Activity : Hot Air Balloon Ride or Maasai Village visit!
You can take to the skies with a hot air balloon safari that will see you soar above all of the action. Ask your safari expert about adding a hot air balloon adventure to your safari. You can also experience how the Masai people live in the middle of the bush with zebras grazing and lions roaring just outside their homes and get to know their culture and customs on a visit to the traditional Maasai village.
Accommodation: Full board at Mara Sopa
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 4 : Lake Naivasha
Drive from the Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha. The road first heads north and east to Narok before turning east to Maai Mahiu, south of Lake Naivasha. Lake Naivasha is the furthest south of the lakes. Approximate journey time 4-9 hours, depending on the exact starting and destination points. Route details and journey times may vary depending on road conditions. Arrive at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge for check-in then in the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride to discover Lake Naivasha. Derived from the Masai name “Nai’posha”, meaning “rough water” in reference to the sudden storms that may come up over the lake, Lake Naivasha covers nearly 139 km²and is surrounded by a marsh of 64 km². Spread around the lake are rich green plains supporting zebra, hartebeest, waterbuck, buffalo, impala, giraffes, monkeys and, at night, hippos. There is also an important bird population (over 300 species of birds) including African fish eagle, osprey, jacana and black rail.
Accommodation : Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort
Included Meals : Breakfast, Lunch (package), Dinner
DAY 5 : Amboseli National Park
Drive from the Lake Naivasha to Amboseli. The road linking the lakes runs south from Baringo and Bogoria to Nakuru before turning southeast to Elementaita and Naivasha. From Naivasha (1900m altitude) the road ascends the Rift Valley escarpment before reaching Limuru (2500m), known for its tea plantations, and continuing down to Nairobi (1661m). From Nairobi the road leads south and east, mainly through open grassland, descending to an altitude of 1145m at Amboseli. Approximate journey time 6-8 hours, depending on the starting point. Route details and journey times may vary depending on road conditions. Arrive at Kibo Safari Camp for check-in then later in the afternoon game drive through the Amboseli National Park. This compact park is abundant with wildlife and allows for excellent game viewing. Its vegetation consists of a combination of sprawling grasslands, swampy springs and dry dusty earth. Amboseli is most famous for its large elephant populations, with the bulls having some of the biggest tusks in the world. From Observation Hill you will have a view of the entire park and especially the swamp areas where buffalo, elephants, hippos and a diversity of water birds come to cool off and refresh themselves. Look out for the shy porcupine who only dares to emerge at sunset.
Accommodation : Kibo Safari Camp
Included Meals : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 6 : Amboseli National Park – Full Day
Discover the Amboseli National Park. Located about 250 km from Nairobi and along the Tanzanian border, the park derives its name from the Masai word “Empusel”, meaning salty, dusty place. Declared a national park in 1974 to protect its unique and fragile ecosystem, the Amboseli National Park offers landscapes of remarkable contrasts: arid zones alongside the lush oases of the swamps. The ecosystem of this low rainfall region depends on water from Mount Kilimanjaro (5895 m). A particular feature of Amboseli is the possibility to take picture postcard photos of elephants against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro. Covering an area of 392 km2 the park is, in addition to elephants, home to numerous animals (giraffe, wildebeest, antelope, buffalo, lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena …) as well as 400 species of birds (pelicans, kingfishers, crakes, hamerkop and 47 types of raptor) who live alongside the Masai villages.
Accommodation : Kibo Safari Camp
Included Meals : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 7 : Tsavo East National Park
Drive from Amboseli to Tsavo East. Travelling first in a south-easterly direction the route passes to the north of Mount Kilimanjaro before branching north to Emali. From there the main Nairobi-Mombasa road leads southeast to the Tsavo East National Park, entering at Voi Gate. Approximate journey time 4,5 hours. Route details and journey times may vary depending on road conditions. Arrive at Man Eaters Lodge for check-in then later in the afternoon game drive through the Tsavo East National Park. The park is separated from the western part of the park by the railway linking Nairobi to Mombasa. No fence separates the two parks at present, allowing animals to move freely from one place to another. Equidistant from Nairobi and Mombasa, Tsavo East (11,747 km2) is the largest of the two Tsavo parks. Its dry and flat landscapes, excepting the Yatta Plateau (one of the longest lava flows in the world, after the Ol Donyo Sabuk volcano), showcase a rich wildlife. Grant’s gazelle, zebra, impala, Coke’s hartebeest, giraffe and lion are easily observable. Elephant and buffalo are common and often in large herds of several hundred animals.
Accommodation : Man Eaters Lodge
Included Meals : Breakfast, Lunch (package), Dinner
DAY 8 – 10 : Tiwi Beach, South Coast, Kenya
Have breakfast then en-route game drive in the Tsavo East National Park as you head your journey to Mombasa. The main Nairobi-Mombasa road runs between Tsavo East and Tsavo West and is joined typically at either Voi or Manyani. From here the road leads southeast through the Taru Desert, an arid, scorched wilderness. Thereafter the scenery becomes progressively more tropical, the heat and humidity increases, and the landscape changes to coconut palms, papaya and other coastal vegetation. Approximate journey time 4 hours. Route details and journey times may vary depending on road conditions.
Beach and own leisure! Enjoy your coastal beach holiday and relax on the beautiful white sand and sip a refreshing cocktail. Take in the tropical beauty of the coastline. You will have the next 4 days at Amani Tiwi Beach Resort, to enjoy at your leisure African beach lifestyle. Play a game of volleyball, go sailing, jet-skiing or snorkeling.
